Introduced by Sen. Michelle McManus (R) on April 24, 2007, to establish that the bottoms of the Great Lakes within the boundaries of Michigan would be considered as a “Great Lakes State Park”.

1) beach front by Anonymous Citizen on September 20, 2007 The big picture is the state is trying to confiscate the property (anything below the illegally established OHWM) from current beach front property owners. The state has claimed any land lying below the OHWM are bottom lands of the great lakes. Therefore any exposed property, land, beach front due to the lake levels being lower, are now new bottom lands of the great lakes creating (you guessed it) a new state park system by stolen property. Be very careful of these bills. Reply
2) Max by Anonymous Citizen on May 17, 2007 Just what we need, another State Park and more control over the use of the water and the beaches. Another revenue source it will be for sure - permits to enter, permits to put in the boat, permits to fish (oh yeah we already have that one) permits to park the car.....could be a real money machine! Most importantly, it dovetails so nicely with the Wildlands Project. Reply
3) Rat Terrier by Anonymous Citizen on May 16, 2007 "This is just another "Foot in the Door" for the communist demonRats to add another TAX to users of the Great Lakes.
As soon as its named a "Park" the RATS will demand Fishermen buy a stupid park sticker to use the lakes."
Truer words are rarely spoken. You can be sure that the state intrusion in this case will not end with a simple committee recommendation. It will balloon, as it always does. Just like the income tax that was promised to impact "only the richest 1 percent" when imposed early last cenury. Reply
