Introduced by Rep. Barb Byrum (D) on May 8, 2007, to express opposition to Norfolk Southern Corporation's proposed sale of its rail line between Lansing and Jackson.
Referred to the House Agriculture Committee on May 8, 2007.
Passed by voice vote in the House on May 22, 2007.
1) this bill states by Anonymous Citizen on May 11, 2007 that rail traffic is increasing, yet norfolk southern is looking to CLOSE lines. it only makes sense to close lines if the traffic is DECREASING.
someone is misinformed here.
which is it?
if the government wants those lines so badly, it can buy them. but then again, running a railroad is NOT THE PROPER ROLE OF GOVERNMENT.
perhaps if the state CUT THE RAILROAD'S TAXES, they would stay.
2) AMTRAK revisited... by Anonymous Citizen on May 11, 2007 Yes, the government has such a great track record in the rail business they should stick their nose in this...not. Reply
