Introduced by Rep. Kimberly Meltzer (R) on October 23, 2007, to require a government pension system to take away the pension benefits of a former employee convicted of a felony arising out of his or her government employment, and also take away his or her post-retirement health benefits (but not those for which any dependent is eligible). Under current law a government pension system may but is not required to take away a corrupt employee’s pension, and does not have authority to take away the health benefits.
Referred to the House Government Operations Committee on October 23, 2007.
1) unknown [by Anonymous Citizen on October 29, 2007] Why not take away any and all benefits from any and all government employees current as well as retired? But, then I would guess that then nobody in government would ever get any retirement. I can see where this will never get passed. Reply
