Introduced by Rep. Lorence Wenke (R) on September 5, 2007, to make an exception to the legislative offices exemption in the state Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), when the request is for information that concerns a “legislative financial record,” defined as a “legislative office budget and any other evidence of a legislative office expenditure or authorization for a legislative office expenditure” by a state representative or senator. Under current law legislative offices, the judiciary and the governor's office are exempt from FOIA.
Referred to the House Oversight And Investigations Committee on September 5, 2007.
1) I am so lost [by batran on September 11, 2007] Is this bill to sequester more information from the public or to be more transparent?
Is this to ensconce unneeded expenditures in the budget if there is eventually a part-time legislature to maintain their standard of living in the midst of a muddled economy?
Proactively burying the legislative spending road map is an insult to the Honorable Frank Kelly. He was the one who gave us the light at the end of the annual state budget.
