2007 House Bill 5119 (Revise brownfield law )

  • Introduced by Rep. Bill Huizenga on August 21, 2007, to establish a state office of brownfield redevelopment in the Michigan Strategic Fund to coordinate and streamline all state agency programs whose purpose is to support and facilitate brownfield redevelopment. Brownfields refers to “an incentive-based tax credit program to foster redevelopment of contaminated (actual or presumed) industrial and commercial sites,” as described by the Citizens Research Council. The law also authorizes tax increment financing.
