Introduced by Rep. Jeff Mayes (D) on July 19, 2007, to establish that it is lawful to transport an unlicensed pistol to be presented to the local law enforcement agency for the “safety inspection” required by state law, if the pistol is in a case in the trunk or an inaccessible area of the vehicle, and if the person is in the process of eventually getting the pistol licensed under the conditions proposed by House Bill 5039.
Referred to the House Tourism, Outdoor Recreation, And Natural Resources Committee on July 19, 2007.
Reported in the House on February 12, 2008, with the recommendation that the substitute (H-1) be adopted and that the bill then pass.
1) i see that [by Anonymous Citizen on February 14, 2008] neither constitution is worth a hoot here. neither the state or the federal constitution is being followed AT ALL in this state.
so much for your rights as a 'true blue michigander'. they don't exist. the unions took them away by forcing the idiots to vote democrat.
2) You Are Missing The Point [by Anonymous Citizen on February 14, 2008] this ain't about "safety" any more than most laws are. Everything they do is "for your safety" or my favorite "it's for the children".
The government schooled sheeple/idiots lap this up. It's about control and getting your gun on a list that they can use when they decide to take them away. Reply
3) Somebody don't understand what the law already is!!!! [by Anonymous Citizen on February 13, 2008] Drop this bill and adopt H4099 which makes more sense and costs the state a lot less money. Reply
