Oh darn - the Senate stripped out the automatic fee hikes indexed to bureaucrats' salaries and made them just plain old "temporary" (ha ha) fee hike bills.


 


A beautiful rhetorical romp, ruined. :-(

 Here's a nice example of how the class interests of the political class and government class are united (and are contrary to the interests of the people).


The bill gives the Department of Labor and Economic Growth the authority to increase without additional legislative authorization the recurring and initial licensure fees for plumbers. These future fee hikes would be indexed to the salary and compensation levels of department employees.


I love that last - it institutionalizes a disconnect between the government and the private economy. "You may be losing money and going down, but we'll get ours no matter what."
