Robert Jones (D) on March 22, 2007, to require the Secretary of State to accept a Michigan prison prisoner identification card as one of the identification documents that allow a person to get a state indentification card, and give the Secretary of State access to the Department of Corrections prisoner biography database for purposes of making it easier for ex-prisoners to get a these cards.

Those bills would amend various acts to ease the ability of ex-prisoners to obtain driver's licenses and state ID cards, and also would create a debit card by which former prisoners could access money left in their prisoner accounts. The amendment passed by voice vote in the House on February 20, 2008.
