to cover costs associated with the depopulation of a privately-owned deer herd. The herd had been diagnosed with bovine TB in October 2006, and the herd was depopulated by the department in December
2006. The department incurred approximately $67,500 in direct costs, $17,000 in related staff costs, and $415,300 in potential indemnification payments to the owner of the deer herd. The amendment passed by voice vote in the House on October 9, 2007.
