John Pastor (R) on March 8, 2007, to require school districts to adopt and implement conflict of interest policies for board members and administrators, and to prohibit the use of school funds for purchasing alcoholic beverages, jewelry, gifts, fees for golf, or any item the purchase or possession of which is illegal.

1) Help avoid misuse of school funds. by Anonymous on March 10, 2007 I agree that this legislation will help avoid misuse of school funds. As a taxpayer, I would hope that the school boards would have "checks and balances" in place to keep track of where the funds are being used and allicated. Too many times it seems that "the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing." Making the school districts accountable to the taxpayers and documenting their spending may help to keep the budget issues in line. Reply
