This comming from a Democrat? Mark you sound way to much like a republican, I think you need to go talk to Sal Rocca and spin the party wheel.

And this is comming from a staunch democrat with previous family member in the state house of rep's.

Mental health is important, learn about it or get out of the way!!!!

Also go get back on your yacht and talk about how great your life is, Michigan Elected official health insurance coveres 90% of mental health so you have no clue about anything.

There are several reasons not to pass this;
1. The quoted cost increases are never correct, they say 1-4%, wait until everyone who wants a few uppers (and a day off work) takes advantage of their new coverage.
2. Much like 'soft tissue' injuries, there is no real way to prove or dis-prove a mental illness, it's all observation. It's easy to provide benefits for a broken leg, or heart attack, we know when you've had one (or not) and when you're healed. With mental health, lonely people or drug seekers (see above) will now cost all of us in higher premiums.
3. "Just because everybody else does it" isn't a reason, ask your parents.
4. Businesses are leaving Michigan because it's too expensive to do business here. SBT, Workers Comp (ours is designed to be a lottery type windfall for slip and fall fakers), mandated benefits, employee's who expect first class pay and benefits to do semi-skilled labor, etc.
