Introduced by Rep. Steve Tobocman (D) on January 30, 2007, to add “sexual orientation” and “gender identity or expression” to the characteristics that define membership in a group against whom it is a crime to discriminate under the Michigan civil rights law. This would make it a crime to deny employment, housing, use of public accommodations, public services, and educational facilities to another person on the basis of a perception that the person has a particular sexual orientation or gender identity.
Referred to the House Judiciary Committee on January 30, 2007.

2) kat by Anonymous Citizen on February 7, 2007 sexual orientation? gender? as far as I know, there are only two genders - male & female - and we all know that, so that part of the bill makes no sense at all. As for sexual orientation? Why on earth should that have anything to do with this law? What someone chooses to do in the privacy of their bedroom, should definitely not have anything to do with who they are. We are all either male or female and we come from, or are decended from, many different countries and that's all we should be worrying about. I am sick to death of the politically correct trying so hard to promote homosexuals and the rest of them as a new species on this planet! Enough already! Reply
