3) Needs changing by Anonymous Citizen on March 14, 2006 No one wants to be a victim of such an accident, but I think this law is too broad and should be changed to say "cause life threating or permanent injury". Also, all circumstances surrounding the drivers behavior/attitude/condition should be considered. Perhaps suspension should not be issued unless the driver had a prior accident offense.
For instance, I (my car)was once hit by a driver who ran a red light on an early dark morning. The impact completely turned my car around in the opposite direction and smashed in my passengers side rear fender so my car was not driveable, but my injury was limited to a bump on the head.
What defines an "injury"? The man did not intentionally hit me and he wasn't a "wild" driver or drunk. He did however get distracted by his children who were in the car with him. No one in his car was injured. I'm not happy with the man's ignorance, but I don't think he should have had his license suspended UNLESS he had caused such accidents in the past. With this law the way it is written now, he probably would have had his license suspended. Reply
