Introduced by Rep. Paul Condino (D) on September 12, 2006, to require school bus drivers to activate the flashing lights 400 feet before stopping to take aboard or let off children, rather than 200 feet under current law.
Referred to the House Transportation Committee on September 12, 2006.
More confusion by MTH on September 20, 2006 Actually this bill says that IF A STUDENT IS CROSSING THE STREET, then the lights come on at 400 feet. IF THE STUDENT IS NOT CROSSING, then it remains 200 feet.
- This bill adds confusion for both law enforcement and the public that is unneccesary. Wise legislation would be to educate drivers, law enforcement, and students on the saftey issues and laws we now have. *** see the Oakland County and Portage Schools PSA's that ran on TV and use them (not at 3 am of course).
