Introduced by Rep. John Pastor (R) on April 18, 2006, to extend to lawsuits against the practitioner of any profession that requires licensure in Michigan (of which there are dozens) the same requirement for medical malpractice lawsuits, that the plaintiff provide an "affidavit of merit" signed by a qualified professional licensed in the same field as the defendant, stating the opinion that the defendant breached the applicable standard of practice or care that should have been expected.
