Introduced by Rep. Kathy Angerer (D) on January 24, 2006, to authorize a $2,500 annual tuition waiver at state colleges and universities for the dependents of Michigan National Guard or Reserve members called to active duty. The state would reimburse the institutions for the waiver.

Why only the dependents of National Guard or Reserve? Why not regular military? Or maybe, when we're in such dire financial straits, let's stop throwing money around like the state is someone's rich uncle. This is a warm and fuzzy idea but not practical at this point in Michigan's finances.
