1) this bill is foot in the door to mental health screening by Anonymous Citizen on January 28, 2005 The New Freedom Commission bill and its mandatory mental health screening for k-12 passed in December and already we see bills speeding it along in our state. The diagnostic criteria for the mental illnesses are vague political and social constructs as admitted by those that define the criteria and the younger the child, the more difficult it is to accurately diagnose mental illnes.. the 2001 World Health report state "Childhood and adolescence being developmental phases, it is difficult to draw clear boundaties between phenomena that are part of normal development and others that are abnormal.
More that I question, can you teach about sucide with out a religious perspective? Will we cause panic and hysteria among our youth. Some little list of warning signs may bring about a normal student self diagnosing himself. Are we creating little psychiatrist and heaven help us with the governments help? NO, This education is opening a pandoras box. It may also be a benefit to pharmaceuticals to sell more antidepressents. Is that why it has been introduced? Reply
