1) strengthen ELL program no bi-lingual. by Anonymous Citizen on June 6, 2005 There is an increasing need for support to districts to assist non English Speaking students to become English Speakers, not to provide the same instruction in another language. NO Child Left Behind requires assessment of and curriculum and support or in other words an ELL or English Language Learner program, not a bilingual program. Which language would you support? There are over 12 languages besides English spoken by students within the Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District alone. Reply
2) For English press 1 by Anonymous Citizen on June 4, 2005 This is America for crying out loud. Why is this necessary? There should be a law mandating that you must speak English fluently before you can live and work in this country. Such a bill only enables forigners to not learn our language. We have enough forigners here already, we do not need to encourage them to come here any further. Reply
3) Mandate bilingual education by Anonymous Citizen on June 4, 2005 Utterly ridiculous!
Mandate that ALL students learn English.
We need new people working for us in Lansing. Reply
