1) Tax Break Giveaways  by Anonymous Citizen on March 10, 2005
Jim,

Instead of tweaking these laws, why not just get rid of them?

Suppose you live on 22nd and I live on the south side of Sixth Street, between Johnson and Trumble. Also, lets say our respective houses are exactly equivalent in every way possible. Further suppose that I plan on doubling the square footage of my house.

Now,

My property taxes should be increased by x amount.
Correct?

Wrong! My taxes go up by x-z.

Next, lets say that you are planning to double the size of you house.

Your property taxes go up by x –z.
Correct?

Wrong! Your taxes go up by x, sucker!
How you feel?

This is how you world works, Jim
