Introduced by Sen. Bruce Patterson (R) on April 13, 2005, to require a court to notify the Secretary of State when it issues a personal protection order prohibiting an individual from purchasing or possessing a firearm. Under current law a court must notify the county weapons board. The bill is tie-barred to Senate Bill 375, which would eliminate the county weapons boards and transfer the responsibility for issuing concealed pistol license (CPL) licenses to the Secretary of State.

it worries me when a city the size of a postage stamp has a "gun board"...

i don't think anyone would like it if they had to go in front of a "driving board" and prove continually that they are a good driver before getting a drivers lic.

This bill is tie-barred to SB 375. All it does is require that the Secretary of State be notified instead of the gun boards.

Both bills should be approved.

Let's put a hold on the rhetoric, and move the CPL statutes forward in Michigan. This is a good bill, meant to standardize what is now a somewhat inconsistent licensing system, due to certain counties illegally placing additional restrictions or requirements on the entacted laws.
