1) Saving children's lives by Anonymous Citizen on May 14, 2005 Children under 57" tall are not big enough to properly fit in vehicle seat belts, read your vehilce owner's manual for proof. In a crash, a child riding in a seat belt will suffer abdominal injuries when the lap portion of the belt rides up into their abdomen and can cut all the way through to their spine causing spinal cord injury and paralysis. Many children put the shoudler protion of the belt behind them because it is uncomfortable. This means there is no restraint of their upper body in a crash which will lead to severe head injury when their upper body moves forward into whatever is in front of them, usually the back of the front seat. Simply using a booster seat with a lap and shoulder belt can prevent these injuries. Reply
2) purpose?? by sbrosious on February 16, 2005 Please explain the purpose of a booster seat and how that will improve safety over child using only a seat belt?
There are much more important issues to be addressing the congress than booster seats...how about keeping family units intact from the money hungry mongrels called CPS who are unnecessarily ripping children away from their only security blankets they've known since birth (called their parents) just so they can increase federal funding. The corruption in the child protective industry is a serious matter that needs to be addressed by the congress. So what is being done about it?? Reply
