Introduced by Rep. Marsha Cheeks (D) on May 17, 2005, to allow Detroit to levy a 2 percent excise tax on fast food restaurant sales, as proposed by Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to address a $300 million deficit in the city’s $1.5 billion budge.

Guess it took a relative of the mayor to try to put this through. Anyone else would be laughed down. When I go south of 8 Mile Rd., I pack my lunch, my piece, and take my own bodyguard with me. Can't find too many available guards in Detroit--they're all on hizzoner's payroll--and all related to him.
