Introduced by Rep. Brenda Clack (D) on February 1, 2005, to create a state foster care independence program to offer education, training, employment, and financial support for young adults age 14 to 21 who are leaving foster care. A 1999 federal law requires states to adopt a program like this in return for more money, and most or all of what this bill would place in statute are things that the Family Independence Agency is already doing.
Referred to the House Family and Childrens Services Committee on February 1, 2005.
