2004 House Bill 6075

Require MEAP social studies test for Merit scholarship

Introduced in the House

July 6, 2004

Introduced by Rep. John Stewart (R-20)

To require that the MEAP social studies assessment test results be used in qualifying for state merit award scholarships. Note: The social studies test was not included when the scholarship was created due to the fact that many legislators considered it to be too “politically correct.” Also, to authorize smaller graduated merit awards for seventh and eighth graders who do well on two or more of the five MEAP test subject areas.
