Introduced by Sen. Burton Leland (D) on April 22, 2003, to increase the state diesel fuel tax from 15-cents per gallon to 19-cents per gallon. This bill is one of many authorizing “revenue enhancements” which Gov. Jennifer Granholm has proposed in her Fiscal Year 2003-2004 budget.

Diesal fuel is a chief polluter of the environment. Alternative energy sources should be sought. Taxes on diesal fuel should be used to support this research.
