Introduced by Rep. Bob Brown (D) on May 9, 2002, to require an Internet service provider (ISP) to obtain certain basic identifying information from subscribers and provide it to and provide to law enforcement agencies with a warrant. An ISP would have to obtain one or more of the following from customers: Home or business telephone number, credit card number, telephone number of the computer modem.
