2018 Senate Bill 767

Authorize teacher college loan repayment grants

Introduced in the Senate

Jan. 25, 2018

Introduced by Sen. Morris Hood (D-3)

To give student loan repayment grants of up to $20,0000 to new teachers who teach in a school defined as “at risk,” meaning more than half the children come from households with income low enough to make them eligible for a federal free or reduced-price school lunch program. Ten percent of the grant would be paid for each year the beneficiary works in at at-risk school. This is part of a Democratic teacher incentives package comprised of Senate Bills 764 to 782.
