2011 House Bill 4707

Impose government regulation on Happy Meals

Introduced in the House

June 7, 2011

Introduced by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-12)

To mandate that restaurant meals which come with a toy or other “incentive item” must contain certain government-approved food items and not contain prohibited items, including more than 600 calories in total, 650 milligrams of sodium, 35 percent of calories from fat (peanut butter and nuts excepted), 10 percent of calories from sugar and sweeteners, etc. The mandate would require each meal contain a half- or three-quarters cup each of vegetables and fruit.
