2004 House Bill 6358

Assure no-fault auto insurance coverage

Introduced in the House

Nov. 30, 2004

Introduced by Rep. Frank Accavitti (D-42)

To require auto insurance companies to notify the Secretary of State if a policy expires without being renewed, is terminated, or if a policyholder cancels his or her automobile insurance policy. Under Michigan’s no-fault insurance law drivers are required to have insurance to register and operate a vehicle, but there is no system to monitor whether the insurance is cancelled after registration.
